A common question people ask after buying a new home is “should I change my locks?” Safety should be your first concern when moving into a new home.

Do you really know how many keys there are to your property? There is no real way to tell how many people hold the keys to your property, even with new homes.

If you want to feel confident in your new home’s security, you have two options:

Change your locks

Replacing a lock means removing the entire locks and changing them with another model.  This is a great option if you want to have stronger and more efficient locks.

Rekey your locks

Rekeying a lock means changing the tumblers inside of the lock and making it be operated by another key.  Once the lock gets rekeyed, the new key can operate the lock and the old key is invalidated.
