Smart Lock Installation in Atlanta: Why the Door Matters as Much as the Lock

A smart lock is a door lock you can open without a key in your hand: with a code on a keypad, with an app on your phone, or on some models with your fingerprint. Most are fitted to a deadbolt, the bolt that slides from the door into the frame. We install and program smart locks and keypad locks at homes across metro Atlanta, and we can recommend options that fit your door and your budget.

What a smart lock can do

Beyond the code or the app, smart locks let you send someone a temporary key on their phone that works only during the time you choose. Models with Wi-Fi can also send an alert to your phone when the door is unlocked. Which of these you get depends on the model.

Why the door matters as much as the lock

A smart lock moves the bolt on its own when it gets a code or a tap on your phone, so the bolt has to slide freely. A jammed smart lock is usually caused by something in the bolt's way as it slides into the strike plate on the door frame or back into the lock. A strike plate that is out of line with the bolt can make it catch or jam, and so can a door that does not close all the way.

With a key, you can lean on a sticking door and turn harder. A smart lock cannot, so it jams instead. That is why the lock has to fit the door it goes on. When you call, tell us which door it is and whether its deadbolt already locks smoothly with the key.

What happens when you call

  1. Tell us which door the lock is for. If you already have a smart lock in mind, give us the make and model. If not, we can recommend options that fit your door and your budget.
  2. We come to your home and check a photo ID and proof that the home is yours before any lock work.
  3. We confirm the final price on-site before any work begins.
  4. We install the smart lock and program it.

What smart lock installation costs

Smart lock installation does not have a published starting price, because the lock and the door both change the job. We confirm the final price on-site before any work begins. Every published starting price is on our pricing page.
